Revel in the Natural Beauty of Miraflores at This Grand Reopening

Come celebrate the historic community event hosted by the Brackenridge Park Conservancy on Thursday! “Spirit of Brackenridge Park at Miraflores Park” invites all of San Antonio to take part in the long awaited grand reveal of Miraflores, San Antonio’s historic sculpture garden adjacent to Brackenridge Park that the city has been restoring since 2006. Highlighting the restoration of the brick walkways and connection of Brackenridge Park to Miraflores, this event and gives visitors the chance to see this San Antonio outdoor treasure that has never before open to the public!

Before this stunning restoration, Miraflores had fallen into disrepair from its original purpose as a unique garden expression of Dr. Aureliano Urrutia, who came to San Antonio from Mexico City in 1914. The garden was his creative outlet, and between 1921 and 1930 he fashioned the property into a fantastical garden of statuary, fountains, pools, and meandering waterways. Miraflores still contains a number of significant objects reflecting important aspects of Mexican history, art and culture, and now you can experience them for yourself with this grand reopening!

The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with a sunset cocktail reception, mariachi music, and guided tours behind the gates of Miraflores Park. It’s a one-of-a-kind San Antonio event, so make sure you attend!
