Enjoy a Night Out on the Town When You Purchase Tickets to See Romeo and Juliet

Experience one of the most enduring love stories imaginable this Friday night! Opening on Valentine’s Day 2020, Liang’s Romeo and Juliet, set to Prokofiev’s score, will tell Shakespeare’s timeless tale of star-crossed lovers with all the beauty and intensity of classical ballet. This Friday, head to Tobin Center for the Performing Arts for Romeo and Juliet!

Romeo and Juliet fall passionately in love, but their families are caught up in a deadly feud. They marry in secret, but tragic circumstances lead Romeo to fight and kill Juliet's cousin Tybalt. As punishment, he is banished from the city. When Juliet's parents force her to marry Paris, she takes drastic action by drinking a potion to make her appear dead so she can escape joining Romeo. When he hears news of her death, he returns to visit her tomb and kill himself. Juliet wakes to find him dead and stabs herself.

In defiance of its tragic ending, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet remains the greatest romance of all time, embracing naïve excitement, despair, and steadfast resolution. Liang’s inventive choreography infuses sword fights, a grand ball and the iconic balcony scene with passion and elegance. Funny, tender, tragic and deep, Romeo and Juliet will romance audiences this holiday weekend.
